About Tinkerby
Who is behind Tinkerby, an independent UK games review site with no adverts, no trackers and no paid placements.
§01What this is
Tinkerby is an independent review site for players in the UK. Every game on our skill tree has been played through by us and reviewed in full, with its platforms, what it can cost after you buy it and a sensible place to end a session.
§02Why a skill tree
Most game lists are ranked from top to bottom, which says little about whether a game suits your evening. A skill tree groups games by the shape of a session instead: quick matches, one long campaign night, or playing with friends. Pick the branch that fits tonight, then the node.
§03Why the name
We like to tinker: with settings, with builds, with the way a review is laid out. The name stuck, and so did the habit of checking how a game treats your time and money before we recommend it.
§04Who writes the reviews
A small group of long-time players who between them cover fighting games, racing, shooters, building games, platformers and accessibility settings. A game is ranked only after one of us has played it properly, and team games are played with other people.
§05How the site is paid for
It carries no adverts, affiliate links, sponsored reviews or products. We host no games, run no accounts and take no payments, so no company has a reason to ask us for a better rank.
§06Conflicts of interest
If a reviewer has a personal or professional link to a game, someone else reviews it and the page says so. We do not accept gifts or trips in exchange for coverage.
§07The pictures
Every cover is an original illustration made for this site in the visual style of its game, from 8-bit pixel art to sunlit skylines. None of it is official artwork, a screenshot or a real person.
§08Who runs the site

§09Made for UK readers
British spelling, no pop-ups, no autoplaying video and no tracking. Prices and age ratings stay with the official sites, which keep them current.
